Advancing Major National Projects Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

April 25, 2026

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Office of Vice President Kashim Shettima, has continued to implement a wide range of national development initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy, modernizing infrastructure, supporting small businesses, and advancing technological innovation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

A major priority of the Vice President’s Office has been economic empowerment and the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). One of the flagship interventions is the Renewed Hope Family-Based Business Grant Programme, introduced to provide direct financial assistance to grassroots entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses. The initiative is designed to stimulate local economies, encourage entrepreneurship, and improve household income generation across communities.

In addition, the Office of the Vice President has expanded support for MSMEs through strategic partnerships, business clinics, and enterprise development programmes. These efforts focus on improving access to finance, business mentorship, market opportunities, and capacity-building for emerging entrepreneurs nationwide. The office is also playing a significant role in the implementation of the National Single Window Project, a trade facilitation platform expected to simplify import and export processes, reduce bottlenecks, and improve government revenue collection through enhanced digital coordination.

Infrastructure development remains another central focus of the administration. Through the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, the Federal Government is working to increase affordable housing delivery across Nigeria. Thousands of housing units are currently under development in states across the federation, including major projects in Abuja, Lagos, and Kano. The initiative aims to reduce the housing deficit while creating employment opportunities within the construction and real estate sectors.

The Office of the Vice President has also championed efforts to improve Nigeria’s power infrastructure. Several interventions have been introduced to restore and upgrade electricity distribution systems through the installation of substations, transformers, and other critical energy infrastructure. These projects are intended to improve electricity supply reliability for households, businesses, and industrial operations.

Regional development planning has equally received attention under the current administration. Long-term infrastructure strategies are being introduced to improve transportation, industrialization, and energy distribution across different regions of the country. Key proposals include rail connectivity projects, industrial clusters, and gas pipeline expansion initiatives aimed at driving regional economic integration and investment growth.

On the technology and innovation front, the Office of the Vice President is encouraging digital transformation as a tool for national development. Through the National Economic Council, government institutions are supporting artificial intelligence training, digital skills acquisition, and technology-driven innovation to prepare Nigerians for emerging opportunities in the global digital economy.

The administration is also investing in the country’s space and satellite development capacity. Support has been extended toward strengthening Nigeria’s space infrastructure, including projects designed to improve satellite research, operations, and launch capabilities that could contribute to scientific advancement and technological competitiveness.

Human capital development continues to form an important pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The government has intensified collaboration with private sector stakeholders to improve educational institutions and expand access to higher education support programmes. Initiatives linked to student financing and institutional revitalization are intended to improve learning conditions and reduce financial barriers for students.

The Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions programme has further expanded support for women and vulnerable groups across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. The programme combines livelihood grants, economic inclusion initiatives, and clean energy support systems to improve living standards and encourage sustainable economic participation among beneficiaries.

At the broader economic level, the National Economic Council, under the leadership of Vice President Kashim Shettima, is coordinating long-term development strategies aimed at positioning Nigeria as a trillion-dollar economy by 2030. The administration’s current phase emphasizes accelerated implementation of major infrastructure and legacy projects, including strategic highway developments intended to strengthen connectivity, commerce, and national economic growth.
